Institute of International Relations

Launched in 2015, the Sophia Institute of International Relations (SIIR) aims to be a unique new center of research and education focusing on impending issue relevant to Japan and the Asia-Pacific. Through joint research and effective networking, the Institute will bring together specialists in the fields of international politics, international economics, and national security from within Sophia as well as from our partner institutions both inside and outside Japan.

Our mission is to provide the highest standard of research in international relations with a Japanese viewpoint and also to enrich the educational experience of graduate and undergraduate students of Sophia.

Our new research project is “Governance of Asia-Pacific 2020-Japan’s Role in Reconstructing Regional Security and Financial System.”
