Sophia University Entrance Ceremony September 2026 will be held as below.
The event will be held in two sessions: the first and the second. A ticket is required for entry. Please see sections (3) and (4) for details. Due to venue capacity limitations, up to two parents or guarantors per student may attend. We will NOT be sending out invitation letters for the entrance ceremony via postal mail. All information will be provided on this website, so please check it regularly.

(4) Admission Ticket to the Ceremony
For participation in the entrance ceremony, both new students and their parents/guarantors need to obtain a QR code-style admission ticket in advance. Please present your admission ticket (QR code) at the reception for students and parents/guarantors on the day of the event.

- Parents/guarantors are asked to apply only for those who can definitely participate.
- If you find out that you are unable to participate after obtaining the ticket, please be sure to cancel your application.
- The admission tickets for new students and parents/guarantors are different. The reception on the day will also be at different entrances for students and parents/guarantors, so please bring your own admission ticket (QR code) .
- Please note that new students and their parents or guarantors will have separate seating areas.
- Please follow the instructions of the staff and take your seats from the front of the venue, filling available seats in order. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
- The entire ceremony will be conducted in English. However, the program for the ceremony, distributed on the day, will be bilingual in English and Japanese.
- Please arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony, as it may get crowded just before the opening. After the ceremony begins, entry may be temporarily restricted, even for new students. We kindly ask that you allow extra time and arrive early.
- There is no cloakroom at the ceremony venue, so we cannot store any luggage. In addition, there are no lockers available on campus, so please use the coin lockers at nearby train stations.
- If you need any special accommodations, including if you use a wheelchair or have difficulty walking, please contact the General Affairs Group in advance.
- There are no specific dress code requirements. Attendees typically wear a variety of clothing, including suits and traditional ethnic garments from their own countries. However, please wear attire that is appropriate for a ceremonial occasion.
- If you will be absent from the ceremony, no notification is required. However, please contact your faculty office regarding the graduate school/faculty meetings.
2. Graduate School/Faculty Meetings
Graduate School/Faculty Meetings will be held following the ceremony. Guidance will be provided by faculty members.
