Saint-Joseph University in Beirut (Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth) has the memory of understanding (MoU) with the SophiaUniversity. This seminar was conducted as one of the first events to strengthen the partnership between Sophia University andSaint-Joseph University in Beirut.
Professor Higashi emphasized the importance of inclusive political processes in the phase of peacebuilding, sharing his recentacademic research on South Sudan, East Timor, and Syria.

About 150 audiences including the rector of Saint-Joseph University, professors, and students, and citizens in Beirut participatedin the seminar; there were very active exchanges of the opinions between Professor and participants.

Professors of Saint-Joseph University and Professor Higashi had dinner after the seminar to discuss the further cooperationbetween Sophia University and the Saint-Joseph University in Beirut. The Sophia University and Saint-Joseph University iscurrently discussing the second collaboration by hosting events in Tokyo sometimes in October this year
