2023 Autumn Orientation for new coming exchange students

On 21 and 26 September, the Orientations were held for exchange students starting their lives at Sophia this semester.

On the first day, the orientation started with a welcome speech by Dr. Richard Pinner (Vice Director of the Center for Global Education and Discovery) and Dr. Angela Yiu (Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts). After that, the exchange students were explained about the office procedure to live in Japan, how to register for the course, and student support.

On the second day, the police officers from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department were invited to the orientation. They drew exchange students’ attentions to some crimes in which they might be involved in and the way to survive the natural disasters which are highly possible to occur in Japan.

More than 300 exchange students from almost 40 countries joined both orientations and they listened to the explanations carefully. Especially, since many of them have never experienced an earthquake, so they learned intently how to survive in the event of an earthquake.

Sophia University continues to support all exchange students can have a wonderful new life. We hope they will experience many challenges at our university.
