About status of residence and internships

For “Student” and “Designated Activities” status of residence holders.

１．If you will participate in an unpaid internship

You do not need to make any special arrangements. You may participate with your current residence status.

2．If you will participate in a paid internship

• Internship is 28 hours or less per week (Or 8 hours a day or less during the school vacation period)
  • You will need to apply for “Permission to Engage in Activity Other Than That Permitted under the Status of Residence Previously Granted”.
  • *If you are working multiple jobs you must ensure that you are not over the total permitted limit of 28 hours per week (Or 8 hours a day during the school vacation period)
• Internship is more than 28 hours per week (Excluding school vacation period)
  • You will need to first apply for “Permission to Engage in Activity Other Than That Permitted under the Status of Residence Previously Granted”, then apply for an additional permission to work more than 28 hours per week.
