Health Services
Consultation with Physician, Psychiatrists and Nurses
Health and Wellbeing Center Health Services supports students so that they can lead a healthy student life, both mentally and physically.
Doctors and nurses provide health consultations, first aid, and hospital referrals.
Hospital referrals will be issued based on the results of a medical examination or when it is deemed necessary for the student’s study.
Feel free to visit us if you have any concerns or questions about your health.
Please note that we DO NOT prescribe medicines or provide insurance treatment.

- Note: Interviews with doctors are by appointment only. Make appointments at Health and Wellbeing Center or by phone.

Examples of a Consultation
- “I’m feeling overwhelmed. Should I visit a medical institution? If so, I’d like a referral to a hospital.”
- “I would like to be referred to a clinic around the university.”
- “I don’t know which department I should go for medical consultation.”
- “I would like to consult about women’s specific health issues.”
2024 Medical Checkup
The Medical Checkup is conducted based on the School Health and Safety Act.
All the regular students at Sophia are required to take the medical checkup every year.
We cannot issue a certificate if you do not complete all the checkup items.
Period: April 4 (Thu) to April 10 (Wed)
About issuing 2024 medical checkup certificate
AY 2024 medical checkup certificate (Japanese) can be issued by certificate issuance machine during May 20th (Mon) 2024 to Mar 31st (Mon) 2025.
For English versions, certificates will be issued at the Health and Wellbeing Center.
AED(automated external defibrillators)
AED is a portable electronic device that is able to treat life threatening heart conditions through defibrillation. It gives you voice instructions, and you can operate it by following the instruction. We have seven AEDs on Yotsuya campus. There is one in the security office at each gate, Main, East, and North Gate. There is also one at the basement floor of the gym, where the swimming pool is, and we have one at the Health Center, as well.

Health Consultation by nurses
Health Consultation by nurses are available to help with any physical or mental concerns you may have. Appointment not required. Please feel free to come for a consultation at any time.

Consultation with a Physician Interviews and consultations will be available after medical examinations by the school physician. By appointment only. *We DO NOT prescribe medications or provide other services covered by insurance.

First Aid Treatment
First Aid Treatment is available for sudden injuries. If you are not feeling well and need to rest, a bed is available.

Telephone Health Counseling Service
Health and Wellbeing Center has started offering telephone health counseling service (provided by TPEC) for the support for students’ physical and mental health. The service is widely available not only for current students, but also for their guardians to consult concerns related to health, medical and parenting and so on for free of charge.
