  • Certificate Issuance Service (Including Convenience Store Printing)

    Starting in September 2025, we will launch a new certificate issuance service. Various types of certificates can be requested and paid for online through this service. Certificates can be printed at multi-function copy machines located in convenience stores in Japan, including Seven-Eleven, FamilyMart, and Lawson. In addition to convenience store printing, certificates can also be received by postal mail or sent as digital certificates (PDF format) via online delivery.

     For graduates / former students: From September 4, 10:00 AM

User Guide

  • Issuance at Convenience Stores
    Certificates can be printed using multi-function copy machines installed at convenience stores in Japan (Seven-Eleven, FamilyMart, Lawson).
    *An additional printing fee of ¥60 per page applies.
    *If you require a sealed envelope, please do not select the convenience store option.
    *There is a printing deadline. Please refer to the Important Notes below.
  • Issuance via On-Campus Certificate Machines
    Certificates can be issued from certificate machines located on campus. Available only at the Yotsuya Campus.

    *Online application and payment are required in advance. You cannot apply or pay at the machine.
    *Certificates for graduates and former students are also available.
    *There is a printing deadline. Please refer to the Important Notes below.
  • Postal Delivery
    After applying and making payment online, certificates can be delivered via Letter Pack Light (domestic) or EMS/international courier (DHL) for overseas delivery. Additional postage fees apply.

  • Digital Certificates (PDF) – Online Delivery
    PDF certificates can be sent directly to companies or other institutions via a download link.
    Each PDF certificate includes a timestamp and electronic signature to prevent tampering.

    Graduates, former students: Please register first, then log in.
  • Approval of New Registration
    ・For those who graduated, or left the university in or after 2008:
    Identity verification and approval (including issuance of initial password) will be processed within 3 business days from the date of application.
    ・For those who graduated, or left the university in or before 2007:
    Identity verification and approval will be processed within 5 business days from the date of application.

    ※Please note that service availability may vary depending on the year of graduation or withdrawal. Refer to the Important Notes below for details.
    ※Applications are not processed on weekends, national holidays, or during university closure periods.
    ※Once your registration is approved, a notification will be sent to your registered email address. Please make sure to check it.

Important Notes

  • Please check the notes below before applying.

・Convenience store and on-campus machine-issued certificates must be printed within 7 days of application. After midnight on the 8th day, printing is no longer possible and no refunds will be issued.
※ If paying via Smart Pit (convenience store payment service), payment must be completed within 7 days of application.
・The download link for digital certificates (PDF) is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance (payment).

 

 

・No refunds will be issued for any reason, including incorrect certificate type or quantity.
・Refunds are not available for expired printing deadlines.

・Certificates issued via convenience stores or on-campus machines cannot be sealed.  If you require a sealed envelope, please select “Postal Delivery” in the service and check the “Request Sealed envelope” option during application.

・Certificates will display the name used during enrollment.
If you have changed your name, please submit a family register extract or similar document to the recipient institution.
However, in cases where not changing the name may cause disadvantage (e.g., gender transition, nationality change), exceptions may be made. Please consult the Center for Academic Affairs in advance.

The name on English certificates may differ from your passport spelling (e.g., JOCHI → JOUCHI, JOOCHI).
Please confirm that the name shown in the “Alphabetical Name (English Certificate)” field matches your passport.

English transcripts are not issued for those who graduated or withdrew from the program taught in Japanese before 1979.
If needed, contact the Center for Academic Affairs. Issuance may take up to 5 business days.

Graduates Before 1960

Certificate issuance may take longer for those who left the university before 1960. Please contact the Center for Academic Affairs in advance.

English transcripts are not issued for those who completed or withdrew from graduate school taught in Japanese before 1999.
Contact the Academic Affairs Center if needed. Issuance may take up to 5 business days.

For graduates of Comparative Culture / International Division Before 1999, only English transcripts are available. Japanese transcripts cannot be issued.
Japanese graduation/enrollment certificates can be issued, but if no kanji name is recorded, they will be issued with the alphabetical name.

Certificates for no degree students (non-matriculated, auditors, research students, foreign special research students) admitted before 1998 cannot be issued via this system. Please contact us separately.

Japanese enrollment certificates can be issued, but if no kanji name is recorded, they will be issued with the alphabetical name.

・For enhanced security, a second password is required in addition to the regular password.
If forgotten, it can be reset by the user. Refer to the manual for details.

If you have multiple student IDs (e.g., undergraduate and graduate), they are automatically linked in the system.
If not linked after login, please use the “Add Student ID” function. Refer to the manual for details.

・Certificates issued using the POPITA electronic watermark technology are not accepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or Japanese embassies abroad.
If you need to submit a certificate to MOFA, it must be issued on the university’s official original paper.
In this case, please select “Postal Delivery” as the issuance method.
In the remarks section of the postal delivery options, write:
“Request issuance on university official paper for submission to MOFA.”
If the certificate is not accepted by institutions other than MOFA or embassies due to the use of POPITA, please write:
“Request issuance on university official paper due to POPITA not accepted.”
and proceed with the application.

 

Personal identification documents submitted during registration for this service will be used solely for the purpose of certificate issuance and will not be used for any other purpose.
If you submit a health insurance card as your identification document, please mask the insurer number and insured person’s number.

Certificates issued via this service include anti-counterfeit technology using the electronic watermark “POPITA.”
Recipients can verify authenticity using the POPITA system.
Copies of certificates are not valid.
Instruction for receiver

Steps to Verify Authenticity

Access the POPITA web app and scan the certificate.

Enter the “Verification Code” printed at the bottom of the certificate.
The system will display the correct name, faculty, and department at the time of issuance. Compare with the submitted certificate to verify authenticity.
Authenticity means the record was created under legitimate authority, protected from falsification, alteration, deletion, or confusion, and clearly identifies the responsible party.
